One Stop Children’s Centre,
Yayasan Chow Kit
The YCK One Stop Children’s Centre is a 22,000 sqft, four-storey facility designed to provide a comprehensive and nurturing environment for children. Housing the Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-Kanak (PAKK), a multipurpose hall, KL Krashpad (KLKP), and an urban farm rooftop, this centre consolidates essential services in a single, safe location, significantly reducing operational costs.
With expansive play areas and spacious classrooms, it fosters comfortable and engaging learning experiences. The thoughtful design facilitates easy access to resources, while the open-air environment promotes healthy developmental programs, ensuring children thrive in a supportive and stimulating setting.

01 / Open activity area upon entry, featuring a striking floor painting. This decorative element adds a unique visual impact and set a lively tone of the space, making it a focal point for activities and social interactions.

02 / Features a bright and bold colours to characterize and create visual appeal of the workspace.



03 / Window panel and planter box have been added as an internal wall to enhance ventilation and natural light while respecting the existing building facade. The original window frames have been removed.
04 / Open library and circular seating platform creates an inviting setup for children. The library can also transform into a multipurpose area, with the platform doubling as a performance stage for various activities and events.



05 / The multipurpose hall, connected to the library, features a collapsible partition that enhances space flexibility. This design allows for seamless transitions between the two areas, which adaptable for different activities and events, whether for quiet reading, group gatherings, or performances.



06 / The office features a playground attached to both sides of the office wall, creating a seamless connection between staff and children. The design intention is not only provides a fun and engaging space for kids, but also encourages the staff to interact with them, fostering a more inclusive and collaborative environment.




07 / Each bathroom and pantry features a different coloured tiles, adding a distinctive and lively touch to each space.

08 / The third floor is dedicated for classroom spaces, featuring walls made of transparent corrugated panels. This design allows ample natural sunlight to brighten the rooms and corridors, creating an open and inviting learning environment.



09 / Transparent corrugated sheet offer a cost effective alternative to typical solid partition wall, providing better natural light penetration.

10 / Partial area of the rooftop space is dedicated to an urban farm transforming it into a productive green area. Galvanized planter boxes customized into multiple sizes, are used for the urban farm as it is more durable for outdoor conditions. A rainwater harvesting tank is also installed to provide a sustainable water source for the farm.


11 / Together with Free Tree Society and Yayasan Chow Kit’s children, several types of plants suitable for urban farming are planted such as eggplant, spinach, basil, cabbages, papaya and banana.
